I've been really interested in all these music contest going on on newgrounds (if somebody here reading knows of any extra-negrounds music contests do tell!). The latest one was called Art Inspired Music, pretty straightforward huh? Well the piece of art that caught my attention was a black & white drawing of a super lit dancefloor.
I'm very well aware of my strengths and weaknesses an I know that one my abilites is making electronic dance music so choosing that art as my inspiration was a no-brainer. I pictured this really deep voice taking you throughout the song and introducing the characters just as if it was a friend at the club who's showing you the ropes and introducing you to hot people.
Soundwise it works well thanks to the eight bitty bassline which makes it perfect for videogame music so feel free to use this track in any of your animations, I'd love to see it put to good use!

El motor que me inspiro a producir este tema fue un concurso de musica en newgrounds donde había que elegir un dibujo que te gustase y componer en base a eso. Creo que estaba entre un gato deforme y un interior de un boliche estallado y si bien el dibujo del gato podría haber sido acompañado por sonidos de grabaciones invertidos y FMs asonantes y hubiese sido algo súper original y único pero elegí optar por la escena del boliche sabiendo que una de mis fortalezas es producir electro de fiesta. Pero quería que fuese algo más que un simple track bolichero y me acuerdo de escuchar en sets de soundcloud temas house donde un relator te va a llevando por la canción y te dice esto es un hi-hat, esto es un break, esto es un drop, como una especie de guía espiritual de la producción. Combiné esa idea con la de un tema de Linkin Park, Cure for the Itch, donde pasa algo parecido. El resultado se siente como tener un coach que te va acompañando por la canción y es interesantemente efectivo, puede que lo vuelva a hacer en el futuro.
No quería que el tema suene súper pulido, busqué lograr sonidos mas 8-bit con el polysynth y el FM de- Bitwig-Studio.
Gane o no gane este concurso poco importa porque puedo decir que fue un ejercicio fructifero que me llevo a probar nuevos sonidos en el techno.
