about

my intention with nineteen was to make a yoga mix, something different from the club-driven music I'd been uploading, I succeeded, to a certain degree. My efforts of going outside the beaten-path drove to experiment with different production approaches, take the opening sound for instance, that swoosh that repeats for about six minutes, that's an inverted sample of a keyboard synth, and it sounds great, as a matter of fact I liked that sound so much that the lead melody is an inverted sample of a keyboard solo as well. But the challenge here wasn't making a psychedelic sounding experience (that happens anyway), the objective was to create an ambient mix, so that's why the hi-hat quickly dissipates to make room for a whole different perspective, sounds captured from the window in my apartment, the noise of pasta being fried and a waterfall from bariloche all come together to create the high end frequencies of an ecstatic ambient song that every now and then drops to the rumble of a gentle drum kick in the distance. Certainly the kind of song that would make anybody in the dancefloor lose their groove and stare at the dj wondering why is everything suddenly so airy (did I just invent that word?). Hi, yes, I'm the dj and I'm spinning this sweet ambient soundscape for you, so wave your hands, show some love, make some noizze, saluden che.
My bn_pl instagram account had been quiet for some time so I took on making a short Wayne Coyne inspired song about a guy who is trapped inside a smartphone and his sole purpose is to entertain the users pretty much in the same way an animal is showcased in a glass box in a zoo. This guy is asking passers by to acknowledge his efforts but knows that showing affection is not as easy as double tapping a picture on a cellular phone. Why Wayne Coyne? Because the chords are very similar to My Cosmic Autumn Rebellion, yep.
One morning I opened up bitwig, grabbed the guitar and recorded a couple of arpeggios to get a sweet sounding track, instead a whole bunch of gigantic synth's started appearing crowned by a heart-ripping voice singing through a broken microphone about the purpose of existence, what's the point of it all? It's a very heavy feeling and it drags to the following track, a home-made improvisation that attempts to remain as analog as possible with just one electronic keyboard. WW2 veterans can be heard giving their testimonies. I'd been watching Band Of Brothers and was really inspired by some of them, I wonder how copyright goes for this kind of music? Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, if I ever make money with this I'll send you guys a postcard, promise.
The song has an abrupt finale with a hung-up phone, it really is a very uneasy thing to hear, thank god I had made a second remix to my partner in crime Ailin Liefeldt, so Movie remix number 2 comes to save the day and leave those hung-up phones behind, I'm pretty satisfied with the result, technically speaking, I think I kept the soul of the song intact and added a bit of my own spice, hope I enjoy it too!

As to the artwork?
I was mainly inspired by DOS games in myabandonware, the covers tend to be very basic but strong in contrast with few elements and I had this idea of playing around with physics on blender so I made a whole lot of icospheres (basically a twenty face dice) and dropped them on to a bowl over a checkered table, the colours are all based on CMYK and the blocks show some of the song titles alongside with a disclaimer about how eating that bowl of cereal might not be good for your health and that you should consult a music doctor before.

how am I going to sleep when the world is so beautiful?

music for the sake of music

hi I'm Ben and I make ambient, noise and everything in between, I make my own visuals too.

I think today's music is overproduced because producers are scared of losing their jobs, I try to make my music as simple and honest as I my ego allows me to.
