I close both blinds below the window I close both blinds and turn away Sometimes illusions aren't so simple Sometimes goodbye is the only way And the sun will set for you The sun will set for you And the shadow of the day will embrace the world in grey And the sun will set for you Cards and flowers on your window Your friends all plead for you to stay Sometimes beginnings aren't so simple Sometimes goodbye is the only way And the sun will set for you The sun will set for you And the shadow of the day will embrace the world in grey And the sun will set for you And the shadow of the day will embrace the world in grey And the sun will set for you And the shadow of the day will embrace the world in grey And the sun will set for you

about

This release consists of past productions from 2017, you know that feeling when you open a folder a find hundreds of half finished projects? Well, I don't like that feeling, so to get my karm health back I took on to remastering and re-producing a few of them, in this case, four of them, a Linkin Park remix I did when I was heartbroken to find out that Chester had passed away, an obscure minimalesque song produced while on a Linux computer with nothing to play but the factory synth of my current DAW, I think the time signature is kind of fucked up too, something like 7/8. Anyway, it's all tied together by the background audio of 1995 japanese film Ghost in the Shell, those bleeps and bloops came in handy, I should probably send a letter to the film producers to let them know their audio is now merged with techno music on an underground music podcast. The third song is based on a pastry we have here in Argentina called alfajor, and there's a famous brand called Grandote that has this cheesy commercial about how their alfajor is the real deal. So the song is based on a caramel filled pastry, yup, that's right and it's a huge track, I think it lasts for about seventeeen minutes and has various parts, just like an alfajor. And last but not least a Kevin Parker inspired progressive track that goes by the name of Guilty Guy, you can hear me song on a broken voice "I never thought that I could be this way", deep huh?
So yeah, there are a couple of references to argentinian culture on the podcast for sure but the soul remains on the electronic music side and though the sound may change during the 30 minute trip the intensity remains constant.
The build process was simple, first the four files were put together, warped and synched, then I started using filters to divide the whole set and arrange it according to each frequency, from sub-bass to hiss, making it easier to study each part individually to determine what had gone wrong on each track. Some parts needed to be rebuilt using new samples, others were crying for a synth to be added and some just needed a bit eq here and there. I gotta say, it was a different approach, working on the set as a whole and re-arranging it frequency-wise, it really helps you get a sense of what goes where, it's like having your room neatly organized, you know where to look for problems on a track with eq issues.
I guess it was more of an exercise than a composition and the most creative work went to the cover art, which is slightly misleading as it really does look like a synthwave album. But hey, maybe there will be a synthwave mix in the future, who knows. Right now I'm just focused on leaving a neat path behind me by getting the dust out of these old songs and giving them the exposure they deserve.
So there you go, one hundred ninety nine ex twenty, the forgotten tracks edition. Bon voyage!

Oh, and I had a nasty infected nail on my left index finger so I really haven't been able to play any guitar or bass.

how am I going to sleep when the world is so beautiful?

music for the sake of music

hi I'm Ben and I make ambient, noise and everything in between, I make my own visuals too.

I think today's music is overproduced because producers are scared of losing their jobs, I try to make my music as simple and honest as I my ego allows me to.
